All skin conditions start in the gut, therefore, eating well-balanced diet is crucial for great skin; healthy skin tone.

I often see people don’t have any blemishes or rashes but their skin is so dry and dehydrated and lack of lustre. Eating healthy will promote healthy skin, therefore, we are going to talk about what you could do to eat better for your body especially when you have Acne skin condition.


So what to eat when you have Acne problem? Here is what you need to prepare Daily

  1. Protein

  2. Essential Nutrients: vitamins, minerals, antioxidants

  3. Carbohydrates

  4. Green Leafy Vegetables

  5. Essential Fatty Acids

  6. Pre and Probiotics

  7. Water


Protein, animal based protein or vegetarian based protein.

A palm sized protein per meal is crucial. This ensure your essential amino acids level is enough to make protein chains, e.g. collagen, elastin. This is essential for locking water in the skin and prevent Trans-epidermal-Water-Loss; to prevent dehydration.

Essential Nutrients

Cells all need the same thing, either it’s skin or body cells – all vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. You could get these from Vegetables and Fruits. However, during cooking process, most of the vitamins and minerals and especially anti-oxidants will be depleted. Fruits has its own problem; fructose. So I recommend Lifepak from Pharmanex. Carbohydrates

A handful of green leafy vegetable per meal is very important. However, broccoli, spinach, cabbage are all as good as a choice.

Water

Water is crucial to skin health, therefore, customised amount of water is very important. How much water to drink daily?

Your body weight x 40mL = your total water Daily in mL.

The old saying of make sure you drink 8 glasses a day is only partially right. People have bigger built require more water as their body has more cells to feed and they have more wastes to remove from their body. So 50kg person will need 2000mL (2 Litres of water), a 80kg person will need 3.2 Litres of water. This is if they don’t take any diuretics. Bare in mind caffeines in coffee, tea and coke and energy drinks is also diuretics. I recommend filtered water rather than bottled spring water.

Eat three times a day, at regular time and regular portion. No snacking is required.
